The Zygonians are a sludge-based life-form who live on the planet Zygon. Their home world is divided into seven major citystates, the largest being Zygon Gamma, which also houses the planet’s terrifying penal colony. The Zygonians have unstoppable mental powers, the power to control the minds of their victims and make them see what they want them to see. Their Queen appears to every alien as a beautiful female of that alien’s species, allowing her to attract her prey before devouring it.

The Zygonians have conquered or destroyed every planet in the Effdilinplitzenpire Galaxy and now have their sights set on the Milky Way. Once they conquer a planet, they control the minds of its inhabitants and either turn them into mind-slaves or eat them for one of their high-feating days. The Zygonians have never been defeated in battle. The Zygonians have enlisted Mysterion the Magnificent as their emissary on Earth.
In order to invade a planet, the Zygonians plan early. They send an advance team to lay eggs which have a gestation period of 162 Earth years. The main invasion fleet arrives at precisely the moment the eggs hatch, allowing the Zygonians to invade planets from within, but also prevent interplanetary escape. In the rare event that an alien species puts up a lasting fight, the Zygonians will launch a missile into the star at the center of the planetary system, thereby destroying not only the star, but the entire solar system with it. Thus, it is not possible for the Zygonians to be defeated.
The Zygonians rule each conquered planet through a device known as a Central Hive, which magnifies their mind powers. Each Central Hive is controled by the Ultra Hive on Zygon, which is powered by millions of vials containing the psychic energy of every species they have conquered. Because they rely so completely on their slave races, the Zygonians are powerless without them. If only there were a way to destroy the Ultra Hive…
