We’re in a big push the next couple of weeks to let the world know about the premiere of the Live-Action Graphic Novel at the Long Center. So we’re holding a contest (though even if you’re not interested in competing, we’d really appreciate you telling the world about the show Sept. 3 and 4!

EXTRA! Tonight we’re presenting Episode Five of the serial with a feature presentation of “Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars” performed by Foleyvision! They do live dubbing of old movies. It’s a hoot! Alamo Ritz, 7 PM. Details.

Are we too bold? Are we too brash? All we want to do is fill each of the 2,400 seats at Dell Hall at the Long Center for the Performing Arts… twice. The math is simple: we know that one out of every two people who come are gonna come because they heard about it from a friend. So we’re asking for your help and we’ll reward you if you do well…

Tickets for the September 3 and 4 world premiere performances of The Intergalactic Nemesis Live-Action Graphic Novel are now on sale. (By the way, you can buy ‘em HERE.)
This past weekend at the Alamo went great. Turnout for Jonah Hex was, unsurprisingly, pretty awful, but the folks who came really seemed to love Nemesis. They rated it a 4.3 (out of five), the highest rating yet of any of our Alamo audiences. So, if you’re one of those folks and you’re reading this now, thanks!

Upcoming events also include an evening with Foleyvision!, on July 1 at 7 PM at the Alamo Ritz. We’re going to be presenting Episode Five of the Live-Action Graphic Novel series and then Foleyvision! performs “Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars”. Live dubbing of a classic. Not to be missed! All the info and advance tix here.

In a surprise move, we added some shows to the calendar starting this friday! With the opening of PRINCE OF PERSIA, we’re offering another Ray Harryhausen-inspired tidbit. Or if not Ray Harryhausen-inspired, then Ray Bradbury. And if not Ray Bradbury, well, we’re pretty sure that ray guns play a part in the story at some point. Anyway, the epic adventure serial known as THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS roars on with Episode Four of the Live-Action Graphic Novel. Now that Molly, Ben, and Timmy have discovered the Central Hive, they have to figure out a way to destroy it. But betrayal piles upon betrayal making a betrayal sandwich with not a lot of nutritional value, we can assure you. “Et tu, Brute?”

Three actors – dozens of characters. One Foley artist – hundreds of sounds. One keyboardist – thousands of notes. And hundreds of hand-drawn full-color hi-rez blow-your-mind comic-book panels blasting from the screen. LIVE! We call it: THE INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS Live-Action Graphic Novel and this 10-minute live short is gonna knock your knickers off ya!

Unless the gods surprise us with bad news, this daddy’s gonna sell out so get your advance tix HERE

We had a great show at the <a href="http://www.originalalamo.com" target=_blank">Alamo this weekend. Couldn’t have asked for a better movie to open for than Kick-Ass. I was a little worried about playing the Alamo Ritz. My sense of that theater is that its hipster factor would make Nemesis look kind of dumb. But the audience really loved it. 180 people filled out surveys over the weekend and the average rating (out of 5) was 4.2. This after we had pretty major laptop-projector interface tech problems on Friday and Sunday. In fact, on Friday night for about 3 minutes we went into radio-drama default mode when my laptop completely froze. That was fun (not!). But the audience still really liked it–whew! Even better was the response in the lobby when I was setting up. This one couple (pictured) asked about the project while they were waiting on line for the next screening of Kick-Ass. After I told them, they decided to buy and read issue 1 of the comic-book just to pass the time while they were waiting to get in the theater. At the end of reading, on the last panel, the guy shouts “oh my God!”, jumps up, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and immediately buys issue 2. Just in cast I was wondering if the cliffhangers actually work (which I was) now I know. Totally the highlight moment of the weekend!

Thanks to everyone who came out! Next up: Episode Three, May 7, 8, and 9 at 7 PM before Iron Man 2.

It was a crazy scene. As you probably already know, Alice‘s opening weekend was bigger than Avatar‘s. So there were a TON of people at the theater and the staff there was working their asses off. They had accidentally set us up in the wrong theater, which was also, say, a little nutty. But it all worked out in the end. The audience seemed to really love it. And there was a celebrity at the Sunday night performance, but more on that in a moment….

STAPLE! rocked. We had so much traffic at our table that I literally couldn’t keep up. We sold a ton of books, some shirts and some posters too. Then the performance came around and it could not have gone better–for a couple of reasons. First, it was the first time that we strung more than one episode together in a single performance. I was very curious to see if the audience would stop paying attention at some point, but, no, the 30-minute performance was totally engaging. But the second reason it went great was that audience. No doubt, the ideal audience for the show, the STAPLE! crowd really went nuts for it. They laughed at every laugh line, they gasped at the cliffhangers, and a bunch of folks actually stuck around the for the Q&A after, always a good sign.

On Sunday, I was on a panel at Dragon’s Lair. The turnout was small, but there were some really talented and smart people on the panel and I learned a LOT. I feel like such an interloper in the comic-book world and I have a ton of catch-up to do. But the other folks welcomed me in and we had a really nice time chatting.

Sunday night was our final Alice performance. This turned out to be the most responsive audience of all, which was a nice way to end a completely exhausting weekend. Our celebrity audience member? Robert Rodriguez. Not so say that The Intergalactic Nemesis is like the perfect combination of Sin City and Spy Kids or anything, but I wouldn’t mind getting a meeting with Troublemaker Films. Just sayin…

Giant thanks to everyone who came out. And particular thanks to Cody at the Alamo who really did make everything right again and again, to Alison King at Dragon’s Lair who lined up the panel, and to Chris Nicholas at STAPLE! whose tireless volunteer energy is truly an inspiration.

The other video uses footage I shot of Graham Reynolds, the composer, a couple of years ago, combined with recent footage of the production. In the video, Graham talks about the creation of the music, with samples showing what he’s talking about. I think it’s a pretty good behind-the-scenes look at the project. Enjoy!
